Presentation and Discussion of the project Mind the Gap as part of Master Thesis Defense from the MFA Program Public Art and New Artistic Strategies, Bauhaus Universität Weimar.

The project investigates the city of Weimar within the scope of its cultural and historical representation and reflects on the considered gap found through this narration. The objects of inquiry are set to be buildings and historical sites that appear to be as the dysfunctional and unseen side of the city. The act of placing a number of these  buildings in focus, is a provocation which address the parameters of their current condition and the preconceptions and stereotypes circulated around ‘value’. In a dialogue with the value given on the historical heritage that polarizes between preservation, beautification and aesthetic a ‘how to see the un-memorial side of the city’ guided tour takes place. The selective buildings which act as the gap among the significant visited sites are now the autonomous protagonists narrating their microhistories of past and present time.
